“Science Magic” Community Project Ankara

I have implemented the project in 110 different kindergartens in Ankara and  Istanbul in 30 minute sessions with groups of 5 to 50 children and at 100 institutions mostly primary schools in about 20 cities around Turkey in 60 minute sessions with groups of 100 to 500 children from 2004 to now. Mostly governors of towns, municipalities, schools, NGOs, Shopping centers sponsor my shows  and for the last 2 years and about 50.000 children participated . I have also presented Little lnventors " TV program  with a children science experiment competition  format which had been released 26 weeks at TRT1  and TRT3 National TV channels in  2007 and 2008. Objective of the Project: Address the lack of experimental science education in kindergartens and  primary schools in a practical and economical approach. Children participating in scientific experiments learn “science-magic tricks” develop their creativity and learn how to invent by using 250 very simple practical mostly waste materials  . The aim for the next year is to reach to 100.000 children by 100 shows in one year.

Objectives of this assignment were to analyse the results of the activities conducted in the pilot İŞKUR offices under the 2002 Active Labour Market Strategy Programme project,  to review main achievements and lessons of the grant scheme financed under the 2002 EC programme, to conduct detailed analysis of the needs and expectations of stakeholders in the cities where the IB component will be implemented, to review the ongoing and future regional development and vocational education grant scheme projects funded by the EU. By making visits to the 480 key people on 101 meetings in 15 cities  to assess the needs of different target groups for their integration in the labour market in the identified provinces. To provide recommendations to İŞKUR regarding priority target groups and priority actions that grant scheme should focus on by analysing those economic sectors that are able to absorb labour force supply in the selected provinces.A needs assessment and a final report has been delivered at the end of the task.

The overall objective of this five-year project is to assist the Turkish Government, through the Ministry of National Education, in the process of modernisation and adaptation of the VET system to the socio-economic needs of the country and to the principles of life-long learning. As a regional manager I was the key person to the regional commitment and ownership of the reform programme in the region and its success and sustainability. I managed the planning and implementation of regional project activities in line with the instructions and policies of the central project management. I established and maintained a network between the public authorities and social partners of the region related to the reform. I encouraged and assisted training institutions, social partners and industry in identification, development, implementation and dissemination of reform activities in the region

Worked as long term management consultant in the Labor Assistance Group in the LRP component of World Bank Privatization Social Support Project. My team is responsible for ongoing monitoring of the delivery of labor redeployment services being administered by ISKUR for job counseling, retraining, temporary community employment services. I worked as responsible for supervising about 100 contracted projects, 6 Million USD budget for 20 provinces, making visits for supporting local offices and potential service providers, giving interpretations to the local offices on the implementation of the project, creating checklists for bid process , developing training materials, planning and designing training programs, surveys for participants, promotion materials and other tools for the implementation of the project. I have been in the evaluation over 150 contracts over 30.000 USD and  monitored the development of the project.

I have been selected for this position out of 1300 candidates. Project aim was to create a internet portal and a cdrom set to help thousand of students who are preparing themselves to the national university entrance exams. We worked as a central organizing and controlling team that coordinates outsourced components such as web design, writing the software, creating promotional materials, creating databases, editing the documents, creating the core content, video production, marketing, production of the cdroms and etc. The project contained 9 basic courses, 10 trial exams, 128 units, 500 animations, 800 graphics, 2500 sections, 5000 video segments.

After two years of teaching experience I have been concentrated to science olympiad and projects coordination, physics laboratory development, program development for gifted students. During 1991-98 years I have worked with 80 students in after school programs for international competitions. 20 of them entered into Turkey’s national teams. These students obtained 7 of 11 medals during these years ( 2 of 2 of golds, 2 of 2 of silvers, 3 of 7 bronzes ). My student Salih Adem is the first gold medalist  in science olympiads  (1993 USA) in Turkish history and the youngest student in IPHO history (1992 IPHO) This student joined 4 international physics olympiads successively “a world record”.This student was invited to NASA in 1995. My students got several prizes during 1990-96 in physics project competitions
