BORNOVA- İZMİR PERİOD

I went to first grade of primary school in Islahiye -Gaziantep. Islahiye was in the southern part of Turkey  I attended to second, third and fourth grade in Kars İlkokulu of  Bornova -Izmir . Bornova was in the western part of Turkey and was very near to Aegean Sea.It was a small town (33.000 people in 1975) 10 km to Izmir and its cultural and education level was very high respectively. When we arrived in Izmir we lived in an apartment in DYO Lojmanlari.These houses were three flats in a building with gardens.Since ı was very shy it was somewhat hard to get friends at the beginning but after a few days we have found lots friends .We were usually playing footbal with them .My mother was not permiting us playing and were cheating her by throwing the ball from the window .It was really a chance for me  to attend the core of primary school in such a school. I remember a few friends from the school .One is Hakan Erdemli and the other is Tijen.I remember some interesting events from the primary school years. For example school visits to several places .One was to a small village and another was to a near forest . I remember that I had taken a role in play at the end of the school year. I remember musical courses (mandolin) I had taken.I remember contests in social science courses.  I was very excited playing football.One year later we moved to a new building next to my father's working office.This house were in the entrance of the Bornova very near to Suphi Koyuncuoğlu Lisesi.The principal of that school had two children Özgür and Önder and they were our very close friends.In this photo we are in the backyard of  my father's working office with soldiers on a religious  celebration day and you can see the old buildings of Suphi Koyuncuoğlu Lisesi where Özgür and Önder live.Since Bornova was very near to sea we were going to sea especially to Cesmealti,  to swim frequently with our car.We were  also going to nature , forests and other touristic places. We were watching TV three times a week since it was the starting of TV broadcast in Turkey.We had also film playing machine that we were watching Miki Mouse and other kids films.I have not used a computer till university years.

VAN-ERCİŞ PERİOD

I attended to 5 grade of primary school in Erciş. You can see my friends in the garden of the Ataturk primary school. Erciş was a smal town very near to Van Lake. Van is in the eastern part of Turkey. First we have lived in a house with a big garden. This house was very nice with lots of fruit trees, but summer was short in Erciş .When winter had shown its cold face it was very hard to heat this house .Later we have moved to a smaller but  more easily heated house with a small garden.Both houses had irrigation channels and we could play with water most of the time . When long  winter days come we were playing with snow.Actually Erciş was the first place in my life that I had seen snow.We were going to Van lake , to villages , to Hara ( that is a big government farm full of animals and trees.Since winter was very hard it was big  adventure to reach the place  or return to home.Sometimes there was snow 2 meters high in the villages. In the last photo picture I am reading a poem on  school celebration day.I had a small cat named Boncuk  in Erciş. She was so inteligent that she was going to our toilet and was urging us to open the door at night. I remember that I had done an exciting science experiment related with electromagnetism  in the school.Erciş was very far to western part of Turkey and it was very hard to reach fruits and vegetables.When a truck full of this goods come it was ditributed quickly in the market.
